A what?? A vertical tasting. Sounds odd, huh? It’s actually pretty cool. A vertical tasting is when you taste a type of wine from the same winery but all the different years. So you might have a Chardonnay from DUVAI Winery and in the tasting you will try the 2007, 2008 and 2009 vintages. Doing it this way will allow you to taste the impact of environmental conditions (did 2008 get a lot of rain?) and wine-maker style (did they try something different?). You will taste the difference. So, if a winery offers a vertical tasting, try it out and let us know how it went for you.
